Three Critical Injuries Reported in Manassas Workplace Shooting

Incident Overview

In a troubling event that occurred on Wednesday morning, three men sustained critical injuries following a shooting at a United Rentals branch located at 9415 Wellington Road in Manassas, Virginia. The incident was first reported via multiple 911 calls around 7 a.m.

Police Response and Investigation

Upon arrival, officers from the Manassas City Police discovered the victims, all of whom are employees of the facility. These individuals are currently hospitalized and face life-threatening injuries.

According to Police Chief Doug Keen, initial assessments suggest that the shooting could be a case of workplace violence rather than a random attack. Preliminary investigations indicate that an altercation may have triggered the event.

Identification of the Suspect

Authorities have named Marvin Grant, a 37-year-old coworker, as the alleged assailant. Grant is suspected of escaping the area in a gray Toyota Camry or a Toyota Corolla bearing temporary registration tags from North Carolina.

Law enforcement agencies across Virginia have been alerted to be on the lookout for Grant, who is thought to be armed.

Community Response

As a precaution during the investigation, nearby schools were placed on lockdown but have since resumed normal operations. Police have urged local residents to stay indoors and secure their homes while they conduct the search for Grant.

Company Statement

United Rentals issued a statement concerning the matter, emphasizing their commitment to employee safety: “United Rentals is aware of an incident that occurred today at our Manassas, Virginia branch. The safety and well-being of our employees and the community are our top priority. We are working closely with law enforcement and providing support to affected team members.”

Next Steps in the Investigation

Detectives continue to gather information regarding the lead-up to the shooting. Surveillance footage from inside the United Rentals facility is being examined as part of this ongoing investigation, which has raised concern regarding workplace safety.

Safety Advisory

Authorities have advised the public to avoid approaching Grant if spotted and instead to immediately contact law enforcement by calling 911.
