Caleb Williams Provides Update on Injury Status
Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, has participated in two full practices this week but remains uncertain about his availability for the upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
During a media session on Thursday, Williams emphasized his lack of clarity regarding his return, stating, “Before you start asking, I do not know if I’m playing yet,” as reported by Dan Wiederer of TheAthletic.com.
Injury Background
Williams sustained a hamstring injury during a match against the Minnesota Vikings on September 20, which has kept him sidelined for the past three games. He explained that there are specific benchmarks he needs to meet, including a “stress test,” before he can resume playing.
Incident Details
Reflecting on the moment of injury, Williams described the incident: “I felt a pop,” he said. “That’s why I looked back. I looked back just like everybody else does when you feel a pop. [You] think somebody grabbed you, and nobody grabbed me.”
Clarifying Misconceptions
Amidst various reports regarding his injury, Williams took issue with claims that he had a strain, particularly those categorizing it as a Grade 2 strain.
“It was a hamstring tear,” Williams affirmed, “and a pretty serious one.”
While he did have a specific grade assigned to his injury, Williams chose not to disclose it, citing previous inaccuracies in reporting. “We got a grade, but I wouldn’t say it’s deserved to be put out there after all the false [reports],” he elaborated. “So next question.”
