Deutsche Bank Expands Crypto Custody Services to Asia by 2027
Introduction to the Expansion
Deutsche Bank (DB) is set to broaden its digital asset services by introducing its crypto custody solution to the Asian market by 2027. This development follows the imminent launch of its custody service in Germany, anticipated within the coming weeks.
Features of the Upcoming Service
According to reports from Reuters, Deutsche Bank’s offerings will extend beyond traditional custody services. The bank plans to provide additional features including:
- Stablecoin conversion
- Tokenized deposits
- Assistance for clients in issuing digital bonds and blockchain-based securities
Benefits for Institutional Clients
This move could significantly enhance access to cryptocurrency services for institutional clients in Asia. By leveraging an established global banking institution, clients may avoid the complexities associated with managing crypto wallets or private keys.
Security and Compliance
Deutsche Bank’s custody service will enable corporate and institutional clients to securely hold and transfer cryptocurrencies. The bank will manage the underlying technology to protect these assets.
The initial launch is expected to support key digital currencies, including bitcoin, ether, and several stablecoins such as USDC, EURC, and EURAU. However, the launch in Germany is still pending regulatory approval.
Regulatory Milestones
On October 12, Deutsche Bank received authorization from BaFin, Germany’s financial regulatory authority, in accordance with the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations, as confirmed by the European Securities and Markets Authority’s interim register.
