Performance Insights and Launch Details for the iPhone Duo

Benchmark Results

The recently surfaced Geekbench 7 benchmarks indicate that the newly announced iPhone Duo delivers performance closely aligning with that of the iPhone 18 Pro. Both devices are powered by Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU and a 7-core GPU.

iPhone Duo Feature

The benchmarked version of the iPhone Duo (iPhone19,4) is operating on iOS 27.1 and achieved a single-core score of 3,986 along with a multi-core score of 11,067. These figures are consistent with various benchmarks from the previous iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models.

It is important to note that results can fluctuate between tests. Though the iPhone Duo’s scores are slightly less impressive than those of the top iPhone 18 Pro benchmarks, only a singular score has been observed thus far. The device boasts a 6-core CPU with a base frequency of 4.93 GHz and features 11.30GB of memory, translating to 12GB of RAM.

While both models utilize the A20 Pro chip, real-world performance may differ due to factors like thermal management and the dual-screen setup of the iPhone Duo compared to the single-screen design of the iPhone 18 Pro.

According to Apple, the A20 Pro chip enhances CPU performance by up to 20% and boosts GPU performance by as much as 40%, although GPU speeds have yet to be tested.

Launch Timeline

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo are set to commence on October 16, with the official launch scheduled for October 23.

Additional Information from Apple Executives

In a recent interview, Apple’s Hardware Engineering Vice President, Tom Marieb, discussed the iPhone Duo’s design, specifically addressing concerns related to the device’s crease. “Hold us accountable” was Marieb’s take on user expectations regarding the visibility of the crease over time.

Photography Capabilities

Apple recently showcased a series of photos captured using the iPhone Duo on its Instagram. The device features a comprehensive camera system that includes:

  • A 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera
  • A 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera
  • A 12-megapixel Center Stage camera on the outer display

Production Challenges

Reports suggest that the iPhone Duo is encountering production challenges prior to its release. A source familiar with the supply chain disclosed to Jiemian News that assembly yields remain slightly above 60% as of mid-September, which might influence the initial availability of the device.
