McDonald’s McRib Return: A Look at Its Impact on Bitcoin Trends

McDonald’s has officially announced the return of its legendary McRib sandwich, exciting fans across the United States. The popular item is set to make its comeback, and interestingly, it has caught the attention of cryptocurrency enthusiasts, particularly Bitcoin investors, for an unusual reason.

Details on the McRib’s Return

According to McDonald’s senior marketing director, Guillaume Huin, the McRib will be available in select restaurants in Michigan starting October 26, with more locations expected to join shortly after. Some reports suggest that other regions may see its launch around November 2, although the availability will differ from one place to another.

The McRib is coming back as early as 10/27 in select McDonald’s restaurants across the US. The legend says that the McRib first came to life to compensate for… a McNugget shortage issue!

The Curious Link Between the McRib and Bitcoin

While many fans eagerly await their favorite sandwich, the McRib has developed a peculiar relationship with Bitcoin among traders. There is a belief that Bitcoin prices tend to rise following the McRib’s return, with advocates citing correlations observed in 2017, 2020, and 2021.

This association gained traction in December 2024 when Bitcoin broke the $100,000 barrier while the McRib was reinstated. Huin referenced this strange connection during the sandwich’s revival in 2025, acknowledging its significance within the crypto community.

Key Observations

  • Historical correlations suggest Bitcoin often rises after a McRib comeback.
  • References to the McRib resurgence coinciding with Bitcoin hitting new price milestones.
  • Several past instances where McRib returns have been followed by both significant price increases and drops in Bitcoin value.

“Some claim Bitcoin and the S&P 500 tend to perform well after the McRib makes a comeback, particularly in 2017, 2020, and 2021,” Huin stated. This theory suggests a relationship, albeit without concrete evidence that the return of a sandwich could directly influence cryptocurrency prices.

Culinary Trends at McDonald’s

The McRib’s return also follows other popular McDonald’s menu items being revived in 2026, including the Spicy Chicken McNuggets and the Snack Wrap, which made a return in the UK after a long absence of a decade.

Regardless of whether Bitcoin prices rise this time around, fans of the McRib will have an opportunity to relish the sandwich once more before it vanishes from the menu again.
