Key Enhancements in Windows 11: A Leap Towards Better Performance
Microsoft has recently implemented significant improvements to Windows 11 aimed at enhancing system performance and reliability, leading to an overall refined user experience.
Performance Boosts and Responsiveness
Following Microsoft’s commitment earlier this year to enhance Windows 11, the result is an operating system that reportedly feels up to 20% more responsive.
Improvements span across various components including the Start menu, File Explorer, Search functionality, and the Edge browser. According to Navjot Virk, the Corporate Vice President of Windows Experiences at Microsoft, “A big part of that work is making smarter use of memory and system resources.”
Memory Management Enhancements
One of the standout features of the recent updates is the revamped memory management system. This new approach is particularly beneficial for users with 8GB of RAM, allowing the system to retain up to 2GB more active data in memory rather than shifting it to slower storage solutions.
For instance, when Widgets are accessed on PCs with limited memory, they are designed to load only upon opening, freeing up over 200 MB for other applications and tasks.
Additional User-Friendly Updates
Microsoft has introduced several other enhancements to elevate user experience, including:
- Less intrusive Windows Update processes
- A cleaner layout for the Widgets feature
- The flexibility to reposition the taskbar to either side or the top of the screen
- Accelerated Windows Hello sign-in functionality
- Improved reliability in Bluetooth pairing, notably reducing the time it takes to connect AirPods by up to 15 seconds
Upcoming Features: Enhanced Windows Search
Looking ahead, Microsoft is set to roll out a new Windows Search experience, designed for speed and efficiency. This feature is currently available for Windows Insiders and is expected to be accessible to all users later in the year.
