NORAD Intercepts Aircraft Ahead of Trump Speech in Clemson, South Carolina
CLEMSON, S.C. — An aircraft was intercepted by a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) F-16 fighter jet on Wednesday evening as it approached Clemson, South Carolina, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s scheduled speech in the area. The interception occurred at approximately 5:39 p.m., and the aircraft safely landed at a nearby airfield while under the careful observation of NORAD aircraft.
Upon interception, pilots are mandated to switch to emergency frequencies 121.5 or 243.0 and are instructed to reverse course until further guidance is provided. Failure to comply with Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) can result in encounters with federal authorities upon landing, along with potential enforcement actions.
Incidents During the Rally
During Trump’s address at the T. Ed Garrison Arena on the same day, the event was marred by unrest. Reports indicate that the speech faced interruptions from protesters multiple times, who labeled the president a “traitor” and a “criminal.” Some exchanges turned physical, with rally attendees and protesters engaging in altercations.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that two police reports were filed in relation to the disturbances during the rally. One report detailed an assault where a deputy was dispatched to AnMed Health following a complaint. According to the victim, an unidentified individual had put them in a headlock and struck them in the head, neck, and chest, resulting in minor bruising.
In addition to the assault report, another documented case involved trespassing. The report noted that a deputy was present at the event managing attendees who were refusing to vacate the premises. Christina Michelle Stokes, aged 56, was charged with trespassing after reportedly refusing to leave when asked.
The sheriff’s office stated that no arrests have been made nor charges filed from these incidents, and as of the morning following the rally, no specific number regarding the total protesters removed from the arena was disclosed.
