New Additions and Balance Changes

Today, Overwatch rolled out its midseason patch, which brought along new Stellar Blade skins and several balance adjustments aimed at enhancing gameplay. Additionally, the update serves as a precursor to forthcoming changes, one of the most anticipated being the introduction of a new hero, often referred to by fans as the “Omnic Detective.”

Teaser for the Omnic Detective

Players exploring the Midtown map will discover a business card for Hudson Investigations, featuring two private investigators: Ellie Hudson and Rigby M-018. The names are notable as neither character has previously appeared within the Overwatch lore during its ten-year history. While “Ellie Hudson” suggests a human character, “Rigby M-018” is likely a hint towards the Omnic Detective that Blizzard has been revealing since the game’s reboot in February 2026.

Speculations on Rigby M-018

While details about Rigby remain sparse, he has been previously characterized as the “Omnic Detective,” a moniker inspired by his classic detective attire reminiscent of the 1930s and 40s, complete with a fedora and trench coat. Fans have speculated that he may also wield an umbrella, though its function—whether as a weapon or simply an accessory—remains unclear.

Future Story Arc Involvement

Blizzard has confirmed that Rigby will play a significant role in transitioning Overwatch into its next story arc. However, further clarifications regarding his involvement with the recent plot surrounding Vendetta’s rise to power throughout 2026 are still forthcoming. As players anticipate his potential abilities, many hope for Rigby to be categorized as a DPS hero, especially after the adjustment that moved Sombra to a Support role.
