Pat McAfee’s Unpleasant Experience at the University of Utah during College GameDay
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) —
During a recent appearance on “College GameDay” at the University of Utah, Pat McAfee expressed his discomfort regarding a social media post from the university that he felt was unflattering. The post featured students performing impressions of him, with comments calling him “corny” and “creepy.”
Reaction to the Social Media Post
McAfee disclosed that the post was shared shortly before he went on air, catching him off guard. He remarked, “If these kids would have done this on their own blogs, all good. The university puts that out, like, as I’m about to go out and do an infomercial for the place, and then I’m walking in front of thousands of these people. This is how the university feels about it.”
Comments About GameDay And Kicking Contests
Another point of contention for McAfee was a student’s remark comparing the $1 million award for the kicking contest held by “College GameDay” to the $3 million that a BYU student won in a similar competition. This comment led McAfee to express his distaste, saying, “I hate this place. They got a good football team, though.”
Overall Discomfort and Reflection
Reflecting on his overall experience, McAfee stated, “I’ve never been more uncomfortable, honestly, in my life walking in front of a group of people after watching their university put out a post basically dogging me just moments before.” He also mentioned the tensions surrounding the university in light of a tragic event that occurred in the region, which added to his discomfort.
Future Prospects
Despite his unpleasant experience at the University of Utah, McAfee acknowledged the strengths of the university’s football team, stating, “They got a good football team, though.” Furthermore, he expressed a hope that he would not need to return for future “College GameDay” events, joking about potentially having “COVID or something” if the occasion arose again.
