New Horror Game in Development by Bokeh Game Studio

Overview of Bokeh Game Studio’s Latest Project

Bokeh Game Studio, founded by renowned director Keiichiro Toyama, known for his work on iconic titles such as Silent Hill, Siren, and Gravity Rush, is reportedly gearing up for another horror project. According to a report from MP1st, the studio is currently seeking motion capture performers for a mysterious new title that remains untitled.

Character Details and Themes

The casting call includes a diverse range of characters, each with unique backgrounds and challenges. Notable character names mentioned include:

  • River
  • Dean
  • Lyra
  • Hazel
  • Becca
  • Dena
  • Emma
  • An eight-year-old girl

The character descriptions delve into mature themes such as drug use, trafficking, violence, grief, and sex work. Various characters are linked to the concept of creature transformation, which aligns with elements found in Toyama’s previous game, Slitterhead. This development is particularly notable as Slitterhead received mixed reactions from critics upon its release.

Character Inspirations

Among the various character descriptions, unique inspirations have been noted. For instance, the character River draws visual influence from iconic figures such as River Phoenix and Kurt Cobain, while Lyra’s character is influenced by actress Mia Goth, particularly regarding tone.

Background on Slitterhead

Bokeh’s first title, Slitterhead, launched in 2024 and received a favorable review from Eurogamer, which rated it four out of five stars. The review highlighted its stylish visuals and unconventional approach, stating, “Slitterhead is stylish and thrilling and unusual (and really, how can you say no when one particular Slitterhead that looks uncannily like Beetlejuice?). How lucky we are that something as singular and unapologetically strange as this exists.”
