Steps to Solve Today’s Strands

To approach the puzzle, I focused on words that might signify quality or classic craft. For instance:

  • Identifying GREET, GRAM, and WELL were good starts, but they are not theme words.
  • I discovered the word PAGER on the left, hinting towards outdated technology.
  • I also recognized other terms like ICEBOX, which fit within the puzzle’s theme.
  • Ultimately, I identified OLDFASHIONED as the spangram, unifying the various clues.

Furthermore, I found INKWELL placed in the bottom left and came across TYPEWRITER to complete the list.

How to Play Strands

You can enjoy Strands through both the New York Times website and the NYT Games app. The game presents a board filled with letters along with a themed clue to guide you.

Understanding the Game

The primary goal is to locate the hidden words that align with the daily theme, with the spangram offering a direct insight into this theme. Words can be formed in various directions—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal—using each letter only once.

Winning Strategies

Unlike some other word games, Strands doesn’t penalize players for incorrect guesses. Instead:

  • Successful identifications of theme words are marked in blue.
  • Finding the spangram will highlight it in yellow.
  • Players can generate hints by submitting non-theme words too.

The objective is to correctly identify all theme words and the spangram to complete the puzzle.
