Strive Expands Bitcoin Holdings with Major Acquisition
On October 9, Strive Technologies (NASDAQ: $ASST) reported a substantial addition to its Bitcoin treasury through a recent acquisition.
Details of the Acquisition
In the past week, Strive purchased 3,311 Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) for approximately $280 million, as disclosed in an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This move has brought Strive’s total Bitcoin holdings to 32,773 BTC as of October 9.
The company, founded by Vivek Ramaswamy, acquired these assets at an average price of around $84,500 per coin, covering various fees and expenses incurred during the purchases made between October 5 and October 9. This marks the firm’s most significant increase since January, when an all-stock merger with Semler Scientific added roughly 5,048 BTC.
Ranking in Bitcoin Holdings
Currently, Strive ranks fifth among public companies in terms of Bitcoin holdings, according to data from Bitcoin Treasuries. The rankings are led by MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: $MSTR) with a staggering 848,250 BTC, followed by Metaplanet (44,000 BTC), Twenty One (43,514 BTC), and Marathon Digital Holdings (NASDAQ: $MARA) with 35,577 BTC. Strive is trailing MARA by approximately 2,800 Bitcoin.
Future Aspirations and Growth Strategy
CEO Matt Cole has expressed ambitions for Strive to become the world’s second-largest public holder of Bitcoin by the end of 2026. Currently, Metaplanet exceeds Strive’s holdings by 11,227 BTC, equating to about $937.5 million. To bridge this gap by year-end, Strive would need to acquire approximately 990 Bitcoin weekly, assuming Metaplanet halts further purchases.
Since its public debut in September 2025, Strive has achieved its current Bitcoin position through various channels, including 5,886 BTC acquired via initial PIPE funding and trading activities, along with at-the-market programs and follow-on offerings. They’ve effectively utilized their Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock, termed SATA, as a financing mechanism for Bitcoin purchases.
Financial Status Following the Purchase
Despite the recent acquisition, Strive’s cash and cash equivalents have risen to $310.3 million from $284.7 million in the same period. Additionally, Class A shares outstanding witnessed an increase of about 9.5 million, along with a rise in SATA preferred shares by 532,094. However, traditional warrants saw a decrease of around 8 million shares.
Investments in Preferred Stock
Strive has also invested in 505,000 shares of Strategy’s preferred stock (STRC), establishing SATA as a high-yield instrument backed by Bitcoin, which currently offers a 13% annualized dividend, distributed daily. Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy, commended Strive’s Bitcoin purchase, noting it outstripped the 250 Bitcoin added by Strategy in that same timeframe.
