Mass Shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania Claims Multiple Lives

In a tragic incident on Friday in Erie, Pennsylvania, a mass shooting resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including the shooter’s immediate family. Authorities have revealed shocking details that underscore the personal devastation wrought by the violence.

Details of the Incident

Matthew Stone, 45, was identified as the gunman in this unfortunate event. According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook, Stone died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the shooting at his residence located on Perry Street.

Victims Identified

The victims of the shooting included:

  • Michelle Stone (44) – Wife of the shooter
  • Angelina K. Stone (24) – Daughter, who was pregnant and was due to give birth on Monday
  • Matthew Stone Jr. (21) – Son
  • Jonathan Stone (19) – Son
  • Unnamed 5-year-old boy – Son
  • Unnamed nearly 2-year-old girl – Daughter

Angelina Stone’s pregnancy added a layer of tragedy; she was expecting to give birth on the day of the incident. Coroner Cook confirmed that all six family members were found inside their home.

Additional Victims

Alongside the Stone family, two additional individuals lost their lives during the incident:

  • Twila A. Tanner (51) – A neighbor connected to the family
  • Lora Lee Roberts (37) – Michelle Stone’s sister, who had come to help her niece get to the hospital

Roberts’ friend, Christine Tombaugh, noted that she had arrived at the Stone residence at Angelina’s request, underlining the supportive nature of her character.

Community Reaction

Tombaugh described Roberts as a compassionate person deeply involved in advocacy for the homeless, stating, “Her passion in life was helping others. She had a giving spirit, a beautiful heart.”

Juicesiyah Alexander Ezekiel, the father of one of the young victims, expressed his devastation at the loss, stating, “I wouldn’t even put this on my worst enemy man. It’s sickening.” His daughter, who was about to celebrate her second birthday, was remembered fondly: “Her name is Amari’anna. She’s the most beautiful baby God could have created.”

The Broader Impact

This mass shooting has sent shockwaves through the Erie community, raising questions about the factors that led to such a tragic outcome and leaving many to mourn the senseless loss of life. As investigations continue, the local residents are coming together to support one another as they process the magnitude of this heartbreaking event.
