Jacob Geller No Longer with MinnMax Following Title IX Allegations

Video game YouTuber and essayist Jacob Geller has been removed from his role as cohost of the podcast MinnMax. This decision follows recent claims regarding his past conduct during his time at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Statement from MinnMax

On Thursday, MinnMax confirmed Geller’s departure through a statement on their official BlueSky account, stating: “Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won’t be on content moving forward, and we won’t be publicly airing this week’s episode of The MinnMax Show. We’re in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.”

Background on Allegations

The circumstances surrounding Geller’s exit are linked to a post that circulated on social media platform X. This post accused him of being dismissed from the university’s radio station and receiving a semester-long suspension back in 2016 due to a Title IX investigation related to allegations of sexual misconduct. Such violations according to the university encompass categories including sexual discrimination and harassment.

Legal Context

In 2016, a legal battle culminated in a ruling that mandated the University of North Carolina to disclose records of sexual assault and misconduct violations dating back to 2007. Archived records reportedly include Geller’s name, indicating a suspension for violating the university’s policies on sexual assault or sexual violence. However, specific details surrounding the incident are not publicly available.

Geller’s Response

On October 1, 2026, Geller addressed the allegations in a statement on BlueSky, acknowledging the findings from his college investigation. He stated, “I can confirm that the findings are true. The records were recently shared without the permission of the victim and, without knowledge of their wishes, I do not want to provide any more potentially identifying details. She and I spoke about it the day after and agreed — I had assaulted her. She later reported this to the university’s Title IX office, I cooperated with the investigation, and I was given the (very mild, I concur) sentence of a semester suspension.”

He expressed remorse, adding, “Suffice to say, it is the greatest regret of my life. I traumatized a brilliant person who trusted me, hurt them in a way I can never undo.” Geller emphasized his ongoing efforts to grow from his past actions and the impact they have had on those around him.

Impact on Geller’s Career

The fallout from the allegations has extended beyond MinnMax. Other entities in which Geller was involved have also distanced themselves from him. The podcast Cane and Rinse confirmed the removal of all episodes featuring Geller and his related written content. Furthermore, the streaming platform Nebula announced that Geller is no longer affiliated with their channel, stating, “ongoing projects have been terminated effective immediately, and his content has been removed from our catalog.”

Conclusion

As this situation develops, the community continues to react, and Geller’s past actions remain a focal point in discussions surrounding accountability in the gaming industry. Geller’s acknowledgment of his past, alongside the public’s response, highlights the ongoing complexities surrounding topics of harm and recovery.
