Bellarmine Women’s Soccer Shines with Victory against Stetson

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women’s soccer team delivered a remarkable performance during their recent match against Stetson, showcasing determination and skill that culminated in a convincing 3-0 win at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium. This match marked Bellarmine’s first victory in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) this season, and it was held in front of their home crowd.

Dominant First Half

The Knights applied relentless pressure from the outset, netting all three of their goals in the first half, each capitalizing on rebounds. Freshman midfielder Ella Flynn initiated the scoring early, finding the back of the net in the 14th minute with a powerful shot that flew into the upper left corner, marking her second goal of the season.

Shortly after, in the 22nd minute, junior midfielder Brynn Severance added to the tally with a stunning lobbed shot after a rebound off the crossbar. This goal was her first of the season, positioning Bellarmine firmly ahead at 2-0.

The third goal came in the 35th minute from freshman forward Brooklyn Donohue, who pounced on a loose ball after Flynn’s effort was inadequately handled by the Stetson goalkeeper. This rebound goal secured a solid 3-0 lead for the Knights, as they ended the half dominating the match.

Strong Defensive Play

In addition to their offensive prowess, Bellarmine showcased a robust defensive performance, earning their first shutout of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Jenkins contributed significantly, making three crucial saves to maintain their clean sheet.

Match Statistics

  • Total Shots: Bellarmine 19, Stetson 8
  • Shots on Goal: Bellarmine 10, Stetson 3

With this victory, Bellarmine improved their season record to 3-5-2 and 1-1-1 in ASUN play. They are set to face Florida Gulf Coast University next on October 4, 2026, at 12:30 PM (ET), looking to build on their recent success.
