Pokémon GO Introduces Significant Upgrades to the Explorer Gadget
Explorer Gadget Enhancements
The Explorer Gadget has received a notable update in Pokémon GO, allowing trainers to utilize it for automatically catching Pokémon and spinning PokéStops while actively playing the game. Previously, the functionality was limited to when the app was running in the background.
This upgrade aligns the Explorer Gadget’s capabilities more closely with the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
Trainers at level 20 and above can enable the Explorer Gadget by tapping its icon located in the upper right corner of the Map View or by accessing it through the Key Items section of their Item Bag. When activated, a pink Poké Ball icon indicates which Pokémon or PokéStop the gadget is targeting.
Manual Interaction Options
Even with the Explorer Gadget active, players can continue to catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops manually. To do this, simply tap on the targeted Pokémon or PokéStop to override the gadget’s control. However, trainers should be aware that this manual intervention is constrained by a brief time limit once the pink Poké Ball icon appears.
Important Restrictions
It’s essential to be aware of certain limitations regarding the Explorer Gadget:
- The gadget will not attempt to catch Pokémon that are not registered in your Pokédex or that are classified as mighty.
- Existing accessories like the Pokémon GO Plus + can remain connected, but both the Explorer Gadget and those accessories cannot function simultaneously.
- There is a slim time window available for players to manually take over an interaction initiated by the Explorer Gadget.
For a detailed overview of its activity, trainers can check the Explorer Gadget’s catch history and PokéStop interactions directly from the Map View or the Key Items section of the Item Bag.
Additional Game Enhancements
In addition to the Explorer Gadget updates, Pokémon GO has launched several quality-of-life improvements to enhance gameplay experience:
Revamped Catch Summary
The catch summary interface has been redesigned to display rewards and bonuses more clearly, improving visibility regarding what players earn with each catch.
New Appraise Button
A dedicated Appraise button has been introduced on Pokémon summary screens, providing quick access to check a Pokémon’s IVs without navigating through additional menus.
Changes to Power Spot Encounters
The mechanics surrounding Power Spot interactions have been updated; visiting or placing Pokémon at a Power Spot after Max Battle victories will no longer trigger special wild encounters nearby. This adjustment aims to standardize the wild encounter experience for all players.
Updated Visual Elements
The surrounding encounter rings for wild Pokémon, which are influenced by Lure Modules, have been refreshed for a more appealing look. Additionally, the color saturation of spun PokéStops has been adjusted for better differentiation from those that remain unspun, enhancing accessibility for visually impaired trainers.
Refreshed Visual Effects
Lastly, the visual effects associated with Pokémon attracted by Mystery Boxes or Coin Bags have also seen a graphical update, strengthening the overall aesthetic of the game.
