Controversial Allegations Surface Against Kimberly Guilfoyle

Recent claims made by businessman Eric Deters raise significant ethical questions about the conduct of Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr.

The Allegations

Eric Deters has publicly accused Guilfoyle of engaging in a “pay to play” scheme. Deters alleges that she requested he wire $100,000 to cover her American Express bill in exchange for her assistance related to the Trump administration in the lead-up to her confirmation hearing.

In a CBS News interview, Deters described the interaction as a clear case of “quid pro quo,” indicating that Guilfoyle’s behavior warranted her removal from her ambassador position. He noted, “Unfortunately for Kimberly Guilfoyle, at that time, at that moment in time, I didn’t have $100,000 to spare.” Deters claimed he fabricated an excuse to avoid complying with her request.

Text Messages and Communication

The controversy gained traction following the publication of text messages exchanged between Deters and Guilfoyle, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. In these messages, Guilfoyle emphasized the urgency of her request, saying, “I have been officially announced honey please I need you to get this done for me today,” just days before her Senate confirmation on July 9, 2025.

As part of the inquiry, Deters provided CBS News with a comprehensive file, allegedly containing over 292 pages of communication and grievances against key figures in the Trump administration.

Response from the Administration

Following these revelations, reactions have emerged from various quarters of the Trump administration. White House representatives acknowledged the authenticity of the messages. Additionally, some aides expressed dissatisfaction with Guilfoyle’s actions, as noted by news sources.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended Guilfoyle during her recent visit to Greece, emphasizing the need for proper context before drawing conclusions from the reported allegations.

Deters’ Background and Previous Efforts

Deters is a businessman and retired lawyer who has faced legal challenges in the past. Notably, he was sanctioned by the Ohio Supreme Court in 2021 for unauthorized legal practices. Despite his controversial history, he is determined to advocate for the victims of Dr. Abubakar Durrani, a disgraced orthopedic surgeon he believes is evading accountability.

Deters recalled making several attempts to gain support from Guilfoyle and others associated with Trump to facilitate the extradition of Durrani, arguing that such efforts remained unacknowledged.

Future Implications

As Deters continues to share his story in an effort to highlight alleged misconduct and advocate for victims, the fallout surrounding Guilfoyle’s conduct raises broader ethical considerations regarding the relationships between political figures and financial arrangements.

With Deters indicating potential legal action, the developments in this case may reflect ongoing scrutiny of the intertwining of personal and professional interests in politics.
