MARA Holdings Transfers Bitcoin to Galaxy Digital and Expands into New Ventures
Significant Bitcoin Transfer
MARA Holdings, a prominent player in the Bitcoin mining sector, recently conducted a transfer of approximately 996 BTC, valued at around $81.13 million, to an address associated with Galaxy Digital. This transaction was reported based on on-chain analysis provided by Lookonchain.
However, it’s important to note that this transfer does not definitively indicate that Galaxy Digital has sold any Bitcoin.
Strategic Shift and Diversification
Traditionally focused on Bitcoin mining, MARA Holdings has made a strategic pivot by incorporating artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure into its operations. This move reflects a broader strategy to diversify its business and innovate its offerings.
To bolster its financial position, MARA has started to liquidate portions of its Bitcoin reserves. Earlier this year, in March, the company sold 15,133 BTC for approximately $1.1 billion to facilitate the repurchase of convertible debt.
Current Bitcoin Holdings
As of February 26, MARA Holdings held a total of 53,822 BTC. However, by August 7, this figure had declined to 35,577 BTC, indicating a reduction in its Bitcoin treasury to support its financial and strategic objectives.
Market Performance
Following the recent transfer and alongside Bitcoin’s recovery above $82,000, MARA shares experienced a pre-market increase of 2%, bringing their price to $10.
