Release Date and Demo Details
Nintendo has officially announced that the Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will be released on November 12, 2023. This edition introduces a new gameplay mode named Dandori Academy, designed to challenge players’ strategic skills.
A demo version of the game will be available on the Nintendo eShop starting November 2, 2023. Players who take part in the demo will be able to transfer their progress to the full game upon purchase.
Dandori Academy and New Features
The Dandori Academy mode features timed exams that test players’ efficiency and planning skills. One highlighted exam, called Gargantuan Garden, requires players to gather gold nuggets before the countdown elapses, adding an exciting layer of challenge to the gameplay.
Additionally, this edition includes innovative voice command features for Oatchi, the game’s canine companion, further enhancing player interaction.
Upgrade Options for Existing Players
For those who already own the original Pikmin 4 on the standard Switch, there will be an option to purchase an upgrade pack through the eShop, providing access to the new features offered in the Switch 2 Edition.
Pikmin Day Celebrations
During a special Pikmin Day Direct event, Nintendo declared November 1 as the official Pikmin Day. The event was hosted by renowned game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who introduced Japanese actor Fuka Koshiba as the new ambassador for the series.
Although there were no new game announcements during the event, it showcased the excitement around the upcoming Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition.
Upcoming Releases from Nintendo
The release of Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition is one of two significant Nintendo events this month. Another highly anticipated title, a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is scheduled for release on November 5, 2023.
