Franklin’s Blockchain Fund: A Deep Dive into Its Recent Share Issuance
On Thursday, two sizable batches of shares, each exceeding 72 million in number, were recorded on the blockchain at 02:58 and 04:13 UTC. Both batches were issued at a price of $1.039 per share, distinguished by their unique receipt codes.
This new issuance obscures the identities of the investors, the funding sources, and any potential links to existing assets held on Stellar, another blockchain utilized by the fund.
Valuation Insights
As per data from RWA.xyz, Franklin’s position on the XRP Ledger is approximately valued at $193 million, aligning with the distributed share count, which is based on a dollar valuation for each share. However, with the recorded share price from Thursday indicating an increased valuation of nearly $8 million, the fund’s market position appears stronger than previously assessed.
Understanding the Wallet Structure
In the realm of investment, brokers and custodians frequently consolidate shares from multiple clients into a single account, meticulously tracking individual ownership. Franklin’s documentation characterizes its share management system as a register that integrates blockchain data with traditional records. This includes information that connects blockchain addresses with real-world identities.
Despite this structured approach, it remains ambiguous whether the wallet in question pertains to a single investor or multiple clients. CoinDesk reached out to Franklin for clarification regarding whether the account functions as an omnibus account and the number of investors involved in the subscriptions. As of Saturday morning in Asia, no response had been received from the firm.
Launch and Accessibility
Franklin, in collaboration with DBS, unveiled their fund’s structure approved for operation in Singapore back in November 2025, setting a minimum investment threshold of $20. Initially, the fund was exclusive to wealth and accredited clients, with plans to broaden access to retail investors anticipated in early 2026.
