X Unveils Faster Web App with Streamlined Features
X has announced the rollout of an upgraded version of its web application, claiming notable enhancements in speed and performance. The updates are being introduced gradually, targeting signed-in users in various countries.
Enhanced Load Times
Principal engineer Yagiz Nizipli outlined in a recent blog post the efficiency improvements users can expect. “Open a profile on X.com over a slow connection,” Nizipli illustrated. “On the old web app, you’d stare at the X logo for more than 22 seconds before the first post appeared. On the new one, it shows up in 2.7.” This change highlights a dramatic reduction in wait times for access to content.
Technical Improvements
The update involves a significant architectural change; rather than relying on three separate servers for functionalities such as user profiles, search indexing, and link previews, the new app consolidates these functions into a single server. This redesign not only boosts performance but also simplifies the overall infrastructure.
User Experience Feedback
Early users, including security researcher Jane Manchun Wong, have provided positive feedback regarding the updated web app. Wong reported that the app “feels snappy, loads fast and many parts are polished,” suggesting a smoother user interface and overall experience.
Availability
According to Nizipli, the revamped web app is currently accessible for the logged-out version at X.com and for the pages opened by search engines, ensuring that broader access is available even for users not signed in.
This upgrade reflects X’s commitment to enhancing its platform and providing users with a more efficient and engaging interaction experience online.
