Overview of Crimson Desert’s Success

Launched in 2026, Crimson Desert has quickly emerged as one of the year’s standout video game releases. In just three months, the game sold over 6 million copies, leading to significant financial success for its publisher, Pearl Abyss. In recognition of this achievement, the development team received substantial bonuses, with each employee receiving $3,400.

Immediate Enhancements Post-Launch

Following the launch, Pearl Abyss committed to enhancing the gaming experience by addressing critical issues that were noted by players. This dedication has contributed to a remarkable 419% increase in the company’s revenue since the game’s debut.

Free Trial Offer for New Players

In an effort to attract more players, Pearl Abyss has announced a free trial of Crimson Desert, allowing potential new players to experience the game at no cost. This initiative coincides with the release of the much-anticipated Charting the Unknown DLC, which was launched recently.

The trial period runs from October 29th to January 6th, and is available to:

• PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe subscribers on PlayStation 5.
• All players on Xbox, regardless of their subscription status.

During this trial, players can explore the enhanced base game, though it is unlikely they will access the new DLC content within the time limit.

Trial Progress Carryover and Limitations

Players will have the opportunity to retain their trial progress if they decide to purchase the full game. However, it is important to note that the five-hour trial limit is strict; once the time has elapsed, no additional sessions on a different save will be permitted.

Upcoming Content and Future Prospects

Charting the Unknown marks the first downloadable content pack for Crimson Desert, with indications of more content to come in the future. Additionally, a version of the game for the anticipated Switch 2 is currently in development. Players can also look forward to potential multiplayer-focused DLC and a sequel in the pipeline, hinting at a bright future for the franchise.
