Roy Family’s Halloween Display Brings Joy and Community Support
ROY, Utah — In a heartwarming blend of Halloween spirit and community service, the Paskett family has transformed their home into a captivating haunted display. This annual tradition not only provides entertainment but also aims to support local families in need.
A Tradition of Thrills
The man behind this elaborate haunted house, Darrin Paskett, reveals that the display has been an evolving project since the family moved to Roy in 1998. What began as a few decorations and a cozy fire pit to attract trick-or-treaters has grown into a sizable event.
“Just a walk through that I did because I have fun doing it,” Darrin shared. “The biggest thing that I really like is all the screams that I hear. I just giggle.”
Details of the Display
The Paskett’s haunting creation boasts approximately 13 distinct areas, featuring engaging elements like a clown tunnel, a castle, and an array of bizarre animations. Darrin meticulously crafts everything from animated skeletons to a menacing dragon and other spooky characters that fill the scene.
“It’s definitely gotten bigger and bigger,” Darrin commented, noting that with each passing year, he aims to introduce something new to the experience.
Community Impact
Operating on Friday and Saturday nights throughout October next to Fire Station 32, the display not only entertains but also promotes generosity. Visitors are encouraged to bring donations like canned goods or spare change, which are collected for the Roy Elks Lodge to support local families during the Christmas season.
“I love it. It gives families somewhere to come for free that can’t afford to go to other places,” Wendy Paskett remarked. Last year, the initiative raised $1,200, assisting over 30 families in need.
Efforts and Achievements
Darrin dedicates months of hard work to prepare the display, which includes everything from pumpkin cultivation to the construction of intricate sets, lighting arrangements, and sound effects. For visitors, a dedicated radio station adds to the overall spooky atmosphere.
Furthermore, the Paskett family recently received recognition for their efforts by winning Roy’s decoration contest.

The Paskett Halloween display is located at 5240 S 3275 W, Roy, UT 84067, and operates from 5 p.m. to midnight on Halloween weekend, aiming to draw significant crowds during this festive period.
As Darrin expressed, “Knowing that it’s going to help people, it makes you feel good.” This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of the display, which encourages community togetherness and support for those less fortunate.
