Ken Paxton’s Campaign Adjusts Plans Ahead of Election Day
In a notable change to his campaign itinerary, Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton will not hold a previously scheduled event at the Alamo on the evening before Election Day. The campaign has yet to provide a formal explanation for this alteration.
Revised Campaign Itinerary
The new schedule released on Monday indicates that Paxton will conduct events in Conroe and Allen, both significant distances from San Antonio, where the Alamo is located. The event in Allen is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, making it impractical for him to reach the Alamo that evening.
“Come and Take It” Bus Tour
Last month, Paxton’s campaign announced a two-week bus tour across Texas named “Come and Take It,” inspired by the famous phrase from the Texas Revolution. Although specific stops were initially unclear, the campaign had intended for this tour to conclude at the historic Alamo on November 2.
Historical Significance of the Alamo
The Alamo, a significant site in Texas history, was besieged by the Mexican army in 1836, with over 150 individuals losing their lives during the 13-day confrontation. Today, it stands as a World Heritage Site and museum, which prohibits political activities according to its official guidelines.
Race for the Senate
Ken Paxton is vying for a Senate seat against Democrat James Talarico. Texas has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988, yet recent polling suggests Talarico holds a slight advantage, with CBS News categorizing the race as a toss-up.
Endorsements and Campaign Efforts
Former President Donald Trump, who has endorsed Paxton during the primaries, has been actively supporting his campaign across Texas. He recently conducted rallies in San Antonio and additional events in Corpus Christi and Lubbock.
