Mass Effect Fans Rally on N7 Day to Restore Franchise
This year’s N7 Day, celebrated on November 7, is notably subdued without the presence of BioWare, following its recent closure by Electronic Arts (EA) and the cancellation of Mass Effect 5. In light of this, the Mass Effect community has felt a profound sense of loss, igniting efforts to rally support for the franchise’s revival.

Community Initiatives and Actions
The We are Mass Effect movement has actively engaged with fans in various initiatives. Following the news of the canceled Mass Effect: Universe project, grassroots actions have included:
- A petition that has garnered over 310,000 signatures to save the franchise.
- Local and national petitions aimed at urging legislative support for BioWare.
- The launch of a billboard campaign in Times Square to bring attention to their cause.
Furthermore, members of the community have driven mobile billboards around key locations, including the EA headquarters in Redwood City, California, and the former BioWare offices in Edmonton, Alberta.
For 30 years, BioWare gave us unforgettable stories and characters. Today, we’re standing up for the people who brought them to life.
Support from Other Developers
Amid this turmoil, other game developers have also expressed their admiration for Mass Effect and its developers. The team behind Owlcat Games, creators of the upcoming Mass Effect-inspired RPG, shared their sentiments regarding the series. Their creative director, Alexander Mishulin, emphasized a collective desire to see future adventures from BioWare:
Everybody in Owlcat dreamt about playing Mass Effect 5. It’s very, very selfish, but we wanted to experience the next chapter in those adventures. Our hearts and minds are with [BioWare], and we really hope they find themselves a new home…
Conclusion: A Call to Support
During this challenging time for the Mass Effect community, the initiative led by We are Mass Effect and the expressions of support from the gaming industry highlight a unified desire to keep the legacy of BioWare alive. As fans continue to celebrate N7 Day, they remain committed to advocating for the return of a beloved franchise that has profoundly impacted many lives.
