Meta Introduces Muse Voice for Interactive AI Chats
Meta has officially launched Muse Voice, a new feature that allows users across the United States to engage in audio and video chats with its consumer AI agent, Muse. This rollout was announced on Thursday and aims to enhance user interaction with AI technology.
Innovative Features of Muse Voice
Initially showcased during Meta’s Connect developer conference in September, Muse Voice leverages advanced AI models including the Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice technology. These developments contribute to a lively digital avatar that converses with users, creating an engaging interaction experience.
Customizable Interaction with Jolly
Distinguishing itself from competing AI services, Muse offers a charming animated avatar known as “Jolly.” Users can personalize this avatar to resemble a human, animal, or any character of their choice, fostering a more intimate connection. This anthropomorphization seeks to enhance user engagement during live conversations.
Real-Time Engagement
As users converse with Muse, the avatar expresses subtle gestures and facial expressions that align with the conversation’s tone. While Muse does not visually perceive the user, it is adept at understanding spoken input and responding appropriately.
Demonstration of Capabilities
Alexandr Wang, Meta’s Chief AI Officer, shared a video demonstration of Muse in action. In the demo, he humorously referenced his social media habits, highlighting a conversation in which his Muse, depicted as a fluffy dog, suggested he add disclaimers to his memes to avoid potential misunderstandings with his employer.
Future Developments and Compatibility
In conjunction with the Muse Voice feature, Meta plans to introduce a wearable device reminiscent of a Tamagotchi, set to launch by the year’s end. This device will feature a small screen displaying the Muse avatar, enabling seamless interaction. The voice and video functionalities of Muse will be available on multiple platforms, including mobile, web, and Mac, with plans for integration into Meta’s AI Glasses and the forthcoming “Muse Charm” hardware device.
