Current Discussions on Remakes

In light of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations for the Persona series, discussions regarding remakes of the first two mainline games have gained traction. Creative producer Kazuhisa Wada addressed these topics during recent interviews, expressing a strong personal belief in the necessity of such remakes.

“At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it,” Wada noted.

Leaked Footage of Persona 1 Remake

Following these discussions, a leak surfaced that appears to showcase footage from a remake of Persona 1. This footage features the protagonist navigating a dungeon, engaging in combat with characters, including an appearance from Tatsuya Suou, the protagonist from Persona 2. Additionally, a short story scene is included.

The authenticity of this leaked footage remains uncertain. However, many have drawn parallels to the leaks surrounding Persona 3 Reload, which initially emerged ahead of an internal Sega Japan meeting in 2021. There is speculation that this footage may have been intended solely for internal use and thus not meant for public viewing.

Details in the Leaked Footage

Notably, the leaked footage reportedly features animations that are reused from Persona 4 Revival, which has yet to be officially released. This points to a possible link between the projects, further fueling speculation about the legitimacy of the leak.

The presence of reused animations raises questions about the development timeline and assets being utilized across these titles.

Conclusion and Editorial Note

This ongoing investigation into rumors and leaks has maintained a cautious approach. While previous leaks have proven accurate in hindsight, the current situation remains more ambiguous. The combination of statements from Wada, alongside the leaked footage, has compelled many to consider the possibility of a Persona 1 remake as increasingly plausible.
