XRP Faces Critical Support Test Amid Price Declines
Current Price Dynamics
XRP is currently experiencing a significant downturn, with its price hovering around $1.17 after a drop from an October peak of $1.55. This decline marks a loss of over 27% of its recent gains, leading to diminished trader confidence and a reduction in both ETF demand and leveraged trading positions.
The Impact of Price Declines
The recent downturn has had ramifications beyond just XRP’s price. The cryptocurrency witnessed a 2.37% decline within a 24-hour period, resulting in its underperformance relative to Bitcoin. Additionally, the price dip below the crucial support level of $1.21 incited a wave of selling, forcing traders to close more than $10 million in leveraged long positions.
Open interest has also reflected this shift, registering a drop of 12.36%, indicating a retreat from the market by many traders amid increased volatility.
Market Sentiment and ETF Activity
Market sentiment regarding XRP is on a downward trend, with social sentiment reaching its lowest point since July. This shift is mirrored in ETF flow data, where Inflows were recorded on just six occasions over the past month, with the majority of days reflecting either outflows or no significant movements. Nevertheless, cumulative net inflows still stand at $1.81 billion.
Analyst Perspectives on XRP’s Future
As XRP approaches critical support zones, various analysts have weighed in on its potential trajectory. ChartNerd, a prominent crypto analyst, noted that XRP is testing a precarious support range, indicating that a break below $1.16 could exacerbate losses. He emphasized the importance of the $1.16 to $1.04 demand zone, asserting that any rebound above $1.34 could bolster its outlook.
“The moment of truth: ripple:native has broken below its 10-week support floor and is searching for a $1.16-$1.04 demand zone,” said ChartNerd.
Contrarily, analyst Ali Martinez offered a more pessimistic view, pointing out that XRP’s retreat below its trading channel middle signifies the $0.99 mark as the next potential support level. He attributed this vulnerability to weak trading volume and a decline in market share, suggesting that a solid recovery could hinge on Bitcoin’s dominance waning.
Long-Term Outlook
Despite the short-term challenges, some analysts maintain a cautiously optimistic view. Dark Defender, a well-known crypto trader, stated that the long-term structural integrity of XRP remains intact, identifying $1.12 as a crucial support level that could see price stabilization.
“Nothing has changed in the structure. $1.12 was the ceiling XRP fought all of July & August. Old resistance has one job now: hold as support,” noted Dark Defender.
