New Features of iOS 27.2 for iPhone Users

On October 26, Apple launched iOS 27.2, introducing a range of improvements, particularly to Siri, alongside updates to applications such as Messages, Photos, Podcasts, and more. Users can access this update by navigating to Settings ➝ General ➝ Software Update. As always, certain features may vary depending on the device model and geographical location.

Enhanced Siri Capabilities

Recall Past Conversations

Siri can now remember prior interactions, enabling users to revisit past recommendations, such as dining options discussed in previous conversations. This feature is available exclusively for iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.

Contextual Responses

Users can expect Siri to integrate personal context into responses, drawing from sources like photo attachments in Messages, Calendar participant details, and voicemail content. Enhanced results from Safari history and the Reading List are also anticipated.

Multilingual Support

Expanding its accessibility, Siri now accommodates users speaking languages such as French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, in addition to English; however, this feature is not yet available in the EU and mainland China.

App Access Control

A new settings menu allows users to specify which applications Siri and Search can access. This list can be managed under Settings ➝ Siri ➝ Excluded Apps.

Selective Response Copying

The updated Siri now permits users to select and copy specific parts of a response, rather than the entire reply, enhancing user experience.

Improvements in Messaging Features

Actionable Suggestions

The new Suggestions feature in Messages prompts users to take relevant actions based on ongoing conversations, such as creating Calendar invites or setting reminders, streamlining communication.

Photo Management Enhancements

Shared Album Features

Users can now edit captions and comments in Shared Albums, avoid duplicate photo uploads, and receive reminders ahead of album expiration to save valuable content.

AI Image Detection

iOS 27.2 introduces support for SynthID watermarking, enabling users to identify images generated or modified by AI tools, enhancing the authenticity of shared content.

Gaming and Entertainment Updates

Friend Activity Monitoring

The Games app now features a Friends tab to provide insights into recently played games among friends, enhancing the social aspect of gaming.

Apple TV Profiles

Users of Apple TV can create personalized profiles, allowing for tailored content recommendations, including age-appropriate viewing options for children.

New Functionalities in FaceTime and Streaming

Dual Capture for FaceTime

Group FaceTime calls now allow users to utilize Dual Capture, streaming from both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, offering a richer communication experience.

Live Sports Multiview

Expanding its capabilities, the Apple TV app now supports Multiview on iPhone, enabling users to watch up to four live sports streams concurrently, ideal for sports enthusiasts.

Other Notable Features

Apple Pencil Support

iOS 27.2 adds USB-C support for Apple Pencil on the iPhone Duo, enhancing productivity and content creation options.
