Anthropic Introduces Claude’s Smart Reporting Tools for Enhanced Productivity Insights
Anthropic has rolled out advanced reporting features for its AI tool, Claude, aimed at providing organizations with detailed insights into how their employees utilize the technology. The new smart reports are available for users subscribed to the paid Claude Enterprise plans and can be activated through the organization’s settings.
Overview of Smart Reports
Announced recently, these smart reports generate visual data representations that illustrate team utilization of the AI tool, output generated, and associated costs. Team managers can define specific parameters including the team in question, a date range extending up to 28 days, and the selected Claude products to be included in the report, which can include chat, Claude Code, or Claude Cowork.

Data Insights and Recommendations
Smart reports analyze the team’s conversation transcripts, organizing them into distinct workstreams and identifying types of outputs, such as coding or technical documentation. The reports also track spending on the tool.
“If a spend limit is holding someone back, admins with billing permission can raise it from the report,” stated Anthropic.
Organizations can generate up to ten smart reports monthly at no additional cost, with a fee applicable beyond that. A significant increase in customer spending has been reported, with a 900 percent growth from last year, although the company itself marked an $80 million loss in the first half of 2026.

User Queries and Report Functionality
Managers can customize their analysis by asking specific questions about usage patterns and costs. Notably, these inquiries can be saved for future use. The reports will also provide recommendations, which can include suggestions for adding new rules to code repositories.
Each report features interactive charts, allowing managers to explore session breakdowns within a workstream, filtered by various criteria such as cost, product, date, and output type. Smart reports will identify obstacles and inefficiencies encountered during usage, including sessions that produced unusable output.

Addressing Employee Concerns
While the introduction of these AI reporting tools may create unease among employees—given instances where similar technologies have influenced workforce decisions—Anthropic is striving to clarify their intended use. The company emphasized that smart reports are meant for assessing adoption and planning investments, and are not intended for evaluating individual employee performance or making employment decisions.
Moreover, strict guidelines govern the type of queries that can be entered, prohibiting questions related to sensitive topics such as race, gender identity, religious views, political affiliations, health, and personal matters.
Despite these assurances, skepticism among employees regarding AI technologies in the workplace persists, potentially impacting their reception of such innovations.
