San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks Unveil Unique New Jerseys
San Jose Sharks’ New Look
The San Jose Sharks are set to make a striking entrance when they face the Calgary Flames on Monday night. The team will debut their new jersey featuring a lighter shade of teal known as scuba blue, complemented by shark teeth motifs adorned with pink gums reminiscent of the iconic Shark Head at their home arena, the Shark Tank.
Forward Will Smith expressed enthusiasm for the new design, stating, “I think it’s fun when we do different stuff. It’s pretty bright. I’m sure the fans will like it, and can’t wait to see what it looks like on the ice.” The centerpiece of the jersey is the “SJ” logo, prominently displaying a shark swimming between the letters with its mouth wide open, a design that captain Macklin Celebrini admires.
Revival of the Washington Capitals’ Classic
Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals will resurrect a fan-favorite with the Capital Dome logo, featuring a fresh color palette of layered blues, rotunda bronze, and front gray. Forward Alex Tuch praised the new look, saying, “Love it. Different color scheme. It’s pretty cool. I like the logo. It’s fun. It’s exciting.”
Tom Wilson, another Capitals player, shared nostalgia for the logo as he recalls watching teammate Alex Ovechkin donning it on a black jersey during his youth, stating, “It’s cool to see that logo come back.”
Chicago Blackhawks’ Green Jersey Debut
The Chicago Blackhawks will also add to the excitement by introducing a green jersey in tribute to St. Patrick’s Day when they take on the Colorado Avalanche on the same night. Blackhawks captain Connor Bedard commented on the new jersey, saying, “A little early St. Patty’s. I think they look nice and think they’ve done something similar in the past, which is cool, so excited to try it on tonight.” Forward Patrick Kane, now back with Chicago after his tenure with the Blackhawks from 2007 to 2023, will don this distinct color for the first time in an official game.
