The latest update for iOS, version 27.2, has officially been released. This update introduces a variety of enhancements, including advanced AI capabilities for Siri and new functionalities for Messages and Apple TV. Importantly, users of the iPhone Duo will find that the update includes two exclusive features tailored for this device.
Apple Pencil Support
With the arrival of iOS 27.2, the iPhone Duo now supports Apple Pencil, marking a significant enhancement shortly after its launch. To utilize this feature, users must have the USB-C version of the Apple Pencil, as it is the only model compatible with the iPhone Duo.
Apple Pencil functionality allows users to engage with the device’s outer and inner displays. This includes options for annotating documents, sketching, and taking handwritten notes, making it a versatile tool for productivity and creativity.
The swift integration of Apple Pencil support is a pleasant surprise, as many anticipated a longer wait following the device’s introduction.
Edge Light for Video Calls
The iPhone Duo, particularly advantageous for video conferencing due to its unique ‘laptop mode’ (referred to as ‘seated’ mode by Apple), gains another beneficial feature in iOS 27.2: Edge Light.
This innovative addition provides a ring of illumination around the edge of the display, enhancing visibility during video calls. This feature, previously available on macOS, is now exclusively offered on the iPhone Duo, enhancing the user’s video calling experience.
Edge Light can be utilized not only in FaceTime but also in popular video conferencing platforms like Zoom, ensuring clear visibility in various lighting conditions.
