New Windows 11 Preview Update Enhances User Experience
Microsoft has initiated the rollout of a significant preview update for Windows 11, designated KB5127936. This update addresses a long-standing concern from power users regarding the right-click context menu, which disrupted familiar command locations and functionality. This announcement aligns with the company’s recent quarterly financial report, which indicated a decline in Windows license sales for new PCs.
Key Features of the Update
The update is cumulative for Windows 11 versions 26H2 and 25H2 and will be distributed gradually before becoming available to all users. Notably, the most anticipated feature allows users to customize their right-click menu:
- A dedicated “customize menu” button to manage right-click commands.
- Options to toggle built-in commands like “Send To” and “Create Shortcut” on or off.
- Functionality to rearrange menu items to better suit user preferences.
- Control over which third-party extensions appear in main or submenus.
This enhancement finally allows users to tailor the right-click experience to their needs, alleviating frustrations that arose from previous design changes that hid common commands under a “Show more options” submenu.

Introducing Cloud Rebuild Feature
In addition to improving the right-click menu, the update introduces a new feature called Cloud Rebuild. This recovery option provides a method to reinstall Windows 11 directly from the cloud, even if the operating system fails to boot. The Cloud Rebuild process retrieves the necessary Windows 11 image and system drivers from Windows Update, making it unnecessary to have recovery media on hand.
However, it is crucial to understand the nature of this feature. Cloud Rebuild is more akin to a fresh installation rather than a repair; existing applications and files will not be preserved during the process. Users concerned about data security can choose to completely sanitize their system drives prior to the reinstallation.
For a complete overview of all improvements included in the Windows 11 preview update, including adjustments related to Xbox mode and additional settings, Microsoft has released an official announcement detailing these changes.
