Tragic Shooting at Fairfield Halloween Store Leaves One Dead and Six Injured
FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A violent incident unfolded inside a Spirit Halloween store located in Solano Town Center on Friday night, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to six others. Newly released footage captures the moment chaos erupted, forcing shoppers to take cover.
Details of the Incident
The alarming video obtained by KCRA 3 begins with a sudden explosion followed by a woman exclaiming, “Oh my God.” Panic ensued as an individual could be heard repeatedly pleading, “Please, please, please,” while shoppers crouched on the floor, seeking safety.
Emergency dispatch audio reveals the rapid police and rescue response, with one dispatcher reporting that “approximately 30 people [were] exiting the mall.” Eyewitness Madeline Francia recounted her harrowing experience, having left the store just before the shooting occurred. “We decided the line was too long, and we’d already been waiting there a half hour or so,” she shared.
Victims and Investigation
Police have identified the deceased as 31-year-old Constance Hages, whose family has stated she was pregnant; this information is pending confirmation from the Solano County coroner. Among the injured are three men aged 16, 19, and 32, who remain in critical condition. A 23-year-old man is in critical but stable condition, while two others, aged 19 and 43, have been treated and released from medical care.
The shooting, which occurred around 8:30 p.m., is believed to involve a targeted act from one suspect. As of Saturday night, law enforcement had not made any arrests or publicly identified the individual involved.
Community Impact
The violence has left many families in Fairfield apprehensive about upcoming Halloween festivities. Rachel Segura, who visited the same Spirit Halloween store with her children earlier that day, expressed her shock: “It just blows my mind.” The aftermath of the incident has made her reconsider routine outings with her children, as the uncertainty surrounding the suspect’s whereabouts looms large.
In light of the shooting, the Solano Town Center has cancelled its scheduled Halloween trick-or-treating event. The investigation is ongoing, with the FBI’s Sacramento office providing assistance to local authorities.
