U.S. Women’s National Lacrosse Team Prepares for Global Lacrosse Games
Overview of the Sixes Discipline
The upcoming Global Lacrosse Games will showcase the sixes discipline, which is set to debut in the LA28 Olympics. The U.S. Women’s National Team enters the competition as the reigning world champion after securing victory at The World Games held in Chengdu, China, in 2025.
Recent Successes
The U.S. team has demonstrated impressive performance, solidifying their position as the top-ranked team globally. Following their triumph in Chengdu, they achieved narrow victories over Canada during the recent Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championship in Oshawa, Ontario, and most recently at the Atlas Cup in Sparks, Maryland. This gives the U.S. a favorable record of 6-3 against Canada in sixes, with an impressive streak of five consecutive wins.
In encounters with Australia, they hold a perfect record of 2-0, stemming from victories during pool play at The World Games in both 2022 and 2025. Additionally, the U.S. also boast a flawless record against the Haudenosaunee Nationals, having claimed victory in all five of their matches against them in this discipline.
Key Players to Watch
Leading the team into the Global Lacrosse Games are veteran players such as Marie McCool, who was named MVP at The World Games in 2025, and Ally Kennedy, a two-time World Lacrosse championship MVP. Notably, a majority of the team has experience on the international stage, with eleven of the thirteen players on the roster holding gold medals from their national team careers. The two players without gold medals have recently made impressive debuts for the national team.
During the Atlas Cup, standout performances included Jenika Cuocco, who received the Titan Award for her remarkable 14 saves in a 12-6 win over Canada. Sydni Black made significant contributions with a team-high total of nine goals throughout the tournament, joining Cuocco and Kennedy on the all-tournament team.
