Phantom Blade Zero Surges to Four Million Sales in Just 72 Hours
Outstanding Launch Performance
In a remarkable achievement, developer S-Game has announced that its latest action title, Phantom Blade Zero, has sold four million copies within just 72 hours of its release. The company took to its official X (formerly Twitter) account to express gratitude, stating: “Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support!”
Dominating the Charts
On its debut day, Phantom Blade Zero quickly established itself as a front-runner on Steam, outperforming prominent titles like PUBG and Dota 2. The game not only topped the Steam revenue charts, surpassing titles such as Modern Warfare 4 and Aion 2 but also reached an impressive peak concurrent player count of 833,921 on its first Sunday.
Pre-Launch Success Indicators
Prior to its official launch, early sales figures hinted at potential success, with estimates suggesting over one million copies sold across platforms such as Steam, PS5, and Tencent’s WeGame. Notably, a significant portion of these pre-launch sales—about two-thirds—originated from regions including China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Critical Acclaim
The game’s reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with IGN awarding it a score of 9/10. The review emphasized the game’s smooth mechanics, memorable boss encounters, and fluid combat, calling it “an unbelievably smooth action game filled with memorable boss fights, compelling combat, and limitless swagger.”
Competing Landscapes
While Phantom Blade Zero has experienced tremendous success, it has not yet matched the explosive sales of Black Myth: Wukong, which reportedly achieved ten million sales in the same time frame.
Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team
The voice cast features renowned actor Roger Craig Smith—known for his roles as Sonic the Hedgehog, Ezio Auditore, and Batman—leading the charge. He is joined by Maggie Robertson (famous for her portrayal of Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil 7). Additionally, action star Donnie Yen contributed as a key creative advisor, also portraying the character Mó Yuan with full facial, voice, and motion capture capabilities.
